The forum software we are using are full off holes. And the people that makes it now suddenly want 185$ for a licence. But I am sceptical to upgrade.

$185 isn't a whole lot of money, but this isn’t a busy board, and the price can increase for the next version.

I don’t want to be in a situation where I have to pay for every security updates, especially when there is sow many as for this board software.

This I convert to phpBB or some other gpl board.

You mean this forum? Why not just migrate to phpbb? Free & does the job.

phpbb2 is a good piece of software - also has its security holes, i believe, but is free. i ran one for a while for my students and found it very easy.

I like phpbb to. Looking into to change to it.

The reason I didn’t use it was that back in 2004 when I started this board, it had a lot of security issues. Among them the now legendary hole that allowed an attacker to run arbitrary code on the server.
